FOCUS: Italy-American Construction
 |
| Italy-American Construction founder, Armando Mastroianni. |
When Armando Mastroianni came to America in 1951 he worked for his brother-in-law earning a living for his family. But just two short years later when his brother-in-law passed away, Armando was left without a job. Newly married, Mastroianni found a job as a buffer, which lasted about a year. He found that the dust that he was breathing was affecting his health, making him ill.
With nothing to lose he decided to start his own business.
Since he knew the construction business – and he always had a passion for it -- his hard work and determination made Italy-American Construction what it is today.

Since 1993 Italy-American has been located at 8401 N. Telegraph Road in Dearborn Heights in the building that was built by the family. But it hasn’t always been. From 1954 to 1993 they were located on Greenfield Road between Warren and Tireman.
Armando has since retired, but he remains a common sight at the office.

They cover all aspects, from design, architecture to completion of the construction project using tools like CAD and Kitchen 2020.
Staff
The hard-working staff begins in the office with Ilona, (who has been with the company longer than any other staff member at 26 years), the office manager, Gail, Karrie, and secretary Amanda. Flavio is the Senior Superintendant, the CAD system is manned by Ryan, while Ed and Rob are the designers, and Paul and Rick make up the estimating team.
Community
Italy-American Construction believes in giving back to their community. They do so generously by giving to the Leukemia Research Life Organization (LRL), the St. Louis Center Down Syndrome Center, and countless local charities like Habitat for Humanity, as well as sponsoring a Wayne hockey team.
