FOCUS: Morgan's Arcadia

Lisa and Matt Korte
Morgan Hammoud of Morgan's Arcadia loves families.

You would be hard pressed to find someone friendlier or who cares more about family values than Morgan Hammoud, owner of Morgan’s Arcadia. Married 12 years, Hammoud, 46, and his wife Elham have three children; Shadi (11), Hadi (10) and Rawan (8).

Not only does Morgan have a soft heart for families, he is very intelligent. He has a BA in business, with a minor in psychology and philosophy.
Story continued below...

“Business doesn’t just ‘roll’, he advises. “There’s always something – a drive – behind it.” And drive he does. “I am a conductor,” he says, comparing his passion for music to the way he directs his staff. “If the busboy misses cleaning a table properly, it’s like a sour note.”

History of Arcadia

Hammoud owned a gas station from 1990 to 2003, but when the Wally Ball Basketron and Arcade (a hangout for kids) went up for sale, Hammoud had a better idea. His first thought was to turn it into an Arabic market, but instead, he pursued this family-oriented restaurant and arcade.

“Chuck E. Cheese is geared toward kids ages 1 to 9,” explains Hammoud, “while Dave & Buster’s is geared to adults 19 and up. My vision is to bridge the gap and have all ages.”

After three years, he’s proving to himself – and hundreds of families – that his vision is real. Families can enjoy a leisurely and delicious meal while the kids go off and play laser tag and arcade games.

A party at Morgan's Arcadia is a party done right.

The arcade has laser tag, many electronic arcade games, billiards, air hockey, Dance Dance Revolution, ice ball (a.k.a. ski-ball), and many others.

What's in a name?

Hammoud had 370 working names to whittle down to one. “Arcadia” was a Greek city in the Roman Empire that served as a refuge where people used to go for fun and happiness – to forget their troubles. Families from many villages would go through the gate to eat and have fun. This vision was adopted by Morgan; “This is my city,” he says, where all families come to eat and have fun.

Arcadia aims to be completely family-safe, with a focus on family values. Their friendly and eager staff will assure your visit will be fun and relaxing.
