FOCUS: Victoria’s Bridal & Boutique
|
| Bilja is the gifted seamstress and owner of Victoria's Bridal & Boutique. |
For the past 18 years, Bilja and Vesna, the mother-daughter partnership of Victoria’s Bridal and Boutique, have built a very successful business in Dearborn Heights.
Bilja attended dress-making school for a year in Macedonia. That, combined with her 37 years of sewing experience makes Bilja and Victoria’s one of the more sought-after dress boutiques for miles around.
Although Bilja is not a Dearborn Heights resident, she has many friends and family in Dearborn Heights, including her lifelong friend and Sales Manager, Carmela.

“I’ve always wanted to have a business in Dearborn Heights”, says Bilja.
The secret behind Victoria’s name?
The name “ Victoria’s” Bridal and Boutique actually comes from Vesna.
“As I was growing up, my nickname was Vicky,” explains Vesna. “And my mother came up with Victoria’s because of that.”

Staff
Victoria ’s staff comprises a combination of friends and family. Besides being co-workers, they also are good friends outside of work. Besides Carmela and Vesna, niece Vesna -- and family-friends Bebe and Kiki -- help out when they can.
“We really do have very friendly service,” says Vesna. “We treat our customers as if they’re family. We love everyone!” She adds, “A lot of people say they want to talk to the nice lady with the accent,” referring to Bilja with her distinctive Macedonian accent. “I think the fact that we’re a small shop allows us to really give that personal service.”
Services
Victoria’s is a one-stop shop for gown purchases and alterations for all occasions, including weddings and formal dances. They also have mother-of-the-bride dresses, veils, jewelry, and pressing services.
Victoria’s carries dresses by Jasmine, Demetrios, Karelina Sposa, Alexia Designs, Jordan, Michele Piccione, and Mary’s to name a few. Shop off the rack or peruse the many catalogs of the latest designs and colors.
“We also will give you our honest opinion”, explains Vesna. “If a dress is unflattering, we will be honest with you.”
If you’re planning a wedding, you should start shopping for dresses 8 to 12 months before the date, as it may take 4 to 5 months for ordered dresses arrive. And we suggest you see Carmela and Vesna to help you with your important decisions about your dress for your special event.
